Product Overview
Package-Level Vibration Testing for Transportation & Distribution
The RS-8413 Simulated Transport Vibration Tester is designed to evaluate how packaged products respond to repetitive vibration during transportation and distribution.
Rather than focusing only on the product itself, the test evaluates the complete packaging system—including the outer package, cushioning, closures and the product inside. Repeated vibration can reveal package deformation, product movement, cushioning deterioration and other problems that may develop during shipment.
With a 25.4 mm displacement, configurable vibration frequency, customizable test platform and configurations for loads from 100 to 2000 kg, the RS-8413 can accommodate applications ranging from individual cartons to larger and heavier shipping loads.

What Happens to a Package During Transportation?
A package can look secure before shipment and still fail after hours of repetitive motion.
Road and freight transportation can cause the product to move inside the carton, cushioning materials to compress, closures to loosen and package surfaces to wear or deform. The purpose of laboratory transportation vibration testing is to reproduce a defined repetitive vibration condition so these weaknesses can be identified before shipment.
The RS-8413 transport vibration tester provides a controlled platform for this type of package-level evaluation.

How the RS-8413 Works
The RS-8413 uses a cyclic mechanical motion to repeatedly move the test platform and the packaged specimen mounted on it.
As the test continues, repeated motion acts on the package and its contents. The resulting package response can then be inspected for movement, abrasion, deformation, cushioning changes, closure problems or product damage.
The catalog configuration provides a 25.4 mm vibration range, while frequency and platform configuration can be selected according to the test requirement.

ASTM D999 & Packaging Vibration Testing
ASTM D999 covers vibration testing of shipping containers and includes different test methods for repetitive shock and resonance-related evaluation.
For the RS-8413, the exact machine configuration should be matched to the required test method rather than assuming that one setup represents every ASTM D999 procedure.
| Test Requirement |

Testing a shipping package? The RS-8413 is designed around package-level transportation vibration.
Testing an automotive, electronic or aerospace component against a defined sine or random vibration profile? An electrodynamic vibration system such as the RS-V Series is the more appropriate starting point.
Package Vibration Test Workflow
A repeatable test starts by defining the package and test procedure—not by simply switching on the vibration table.

Configure the RS-8413 Around Your Test
A larger vibration table or higher load capacity is not automatically better. The correct configuration depends on the package and the transportation test you need to reproduce.
Before selecting the machine, define:
Package type and dimensions
Total test weight
Required vibration condition
Test duration
Package restraint / fixture requirement
Applicable test standard or internal procedure

Send Us Your Test Requirement
The right simulated transport vibration tester should be selected around the package—not only around a maximum load specification.
Send our engineering team:
Package dimensions — L × W × H
Total test weight
Package type — carton / crate / palletized load
Required vibration condition
Test duration
Applicable standard / procedure
Power supply
We can then determine the appropriate RS-8413 table size, load configuration and test setup for your application.
